Your research centre in the Kalahari – for your own projects or to contribute to ongoing studies
Kuzikus is a place where science comes to life. In the heart of the Kalahari, we conduct applied research to protect biodiversity: practical, interdisciplinary and forward-looking. As a scientist, you will find a unique combination of traditional knowledge (Khwe-San tracking), modern technology (drones and artificial intelligence) and scientific methodology.
A fully equipped tented camp serves as a laboratory, accommodation and communication centre, with electricity, water and Wi-Fi, around one kilometre from the lodge, in a quiet, welcoming atmosphere. External scientists may use it by arrangement. Farm guests can also occasionally gain insights into the ongoing scientific work and rhino conservation here.
Research focuses on biodiversity, ecosystem restoration, wildlife behaviour and sustainable land use in the arid Kalahari savannah.
What makes education at Kuzikus special is that it takes place directly in nature, through first-hand observation and active participation in research projects: “learning through experience”.
Arrangements are agreed individually for all research projects; there is no fixed price list.
