Discover the Kalahari on foot – with a trained eye and plenty of patience
Instead of observing from a vehicle, these experiences take you onto the trail yourself, on foot, with a trained eye and plenty of patience.
Set off on foot through the bush at sunrise, accompanied by our experienced Khwe San trackers, for around 3 hours. You learn to read all kinds of tracks in the sand and discover things that often remain hidden on conventional safaris, including smaller Kalahari inhabitants such as scorpions.
Join our rangers on a patrol along the reserve boundary: an authentic insight into the daily work of protecting the area from poaching, on foot and with a watchful eye.
Discover the Kalahari independently, using detailed walking maps from the library, on marked trails around the lodge; guided walks are also available on request. As you are walking through rhino territory, use only marked trails, check in with the lodge before and after every walk, and if you encounter a rhino, stand still and remain quiet like a tree, keeping at least 150 m away.
