In an open, classic “Out of Africa” vintage Land Rover
Accompanied by Khwe San trackers or one of the Reinhard brothers, these drives take you through different habitats, from grassy dunes, salt pans and bushland to open wooded savannah.
Plenty of time for wildlife watching, photographs and individual interests: the Kalahari comes to life in the cool, clear morning hours, when the animals are particularly active.
Heading towards the sunset in a vintage vehicle – a classic experience.
After rewarding wildlife sightings, pause as evening falls to enjoy a gin and tonic, a beer or homemade lemonade in the silence and vastness of the Kalahari, before returning to the lodge beneath the Milky Way.
After dinner, two spotlights scan the savannah for nocturnal animals such as genets, bat-eared foxes, aardwolves, springhares, African wildcats and aardvarks. The outing often begins with a campfire and a sundowner on a Kalahari dune.
After the ride, the horses stay out in the Kalahari and find their own way back to the farm. The riders enjoy a sundowner in the savannah instead, before being collected by Land Rover and taken back to the lodge.
There is room in the vehicle for more than just the riders. Partners who do not ride are welcome to come out and join them for a sundowner, as are guests who simply want to enjoy the sunset, without riding or the longer wildlife-watching itinerary of a full game drive.
