Kuzikus for Riders – Tailor-made Riding Safaris in the Kalahari

A Trail Riding Safari at Your Own Pace

Do you ride regularly and want to experience the vast Kalahari from the saddle, without fixed dates or the group dynamics of typical riding safaris? At Kuzikus, we offer individual safari trail rides in deliberately small groups, or even alone with your guide.

Your start date, pace, duration and route can all be tailored to you. Ride through tree and bush savannah, across salt pans and over red Kalahari dunes, discovering African wildlife from horseback. Riding could hardly be more flexible or personal.

Why Choose Kuzikus for Riding

Our Two Suggested Riding Packages

1. Short Riding Package – 3 Nights

The Kalahari from the Saddle – Short, Immersive, Unforgettable

Nichola McNamara-Reinhard
The Kalahari from the saddle on a riding safari
Riders in the limestone pan

For riders who want to experience the essence of the Kalahari in just a few days: its vastness, its light and the special stillness of evening.

Your experience:

Your stay begins at an unhurried pace. On an introductory ride, you get to know your horse and guide. Together, you adjust the equipment so that you feel safe and comfortable from the start. This builds trust between rider, horse and guide.

The two sunset rides are the heart of the experience. You ride through open savannah, past acacias and red dunes, as the light softens and the landscape takes on warm colours. Each route radiates from the lodge into a different landscape, revealing a new face of the Kalahari and its wildlife on every ride.

At a carefully chosen spot in the wilderness, drinks and snacks await you for a sundowner. Afterwards, the horses make their own way back to the lodge, while you enjoy a relaxed drive home beneath a starry sky that can only be experienced far from any city.

Included

Duration: 3 nights
Price: €330 per person (plus accommodation)
Time in the saddle: approx. 4–5 hours in total

Highlights at a Glance

Three nights that stay with you.

2. Extended Riding Package – 7 Nights

A Week in the Rhythm of the Kalahari

Riders in the savannah
Rider with a giraffe in the last light of day
Sundowner for riders

For experienced riders who want to do more than see the Kalahari: to get to know it deeply and peacefully, with time for the land, the wildlife and their own horse.

Your Experience

Your week begins with an introductory ride. You get to know your horse and guide, the equipment is adjusted to you, and you discuss pace and riding style. This shared foundation supports all the days that follow.

Then come six sunset rides, each in a different direction. The routes radiate from the lodge through the full variety of the Kalahari: across wide, pale limestone pans, through tree savannah with its camelthorn trees and dense bush savannah, past waterholes where animals gather in the evening, and up onto red dunes that seem to glow in the last light.

Throughout the week, duration and pace increase gently, in harmony with you and your horse. Familiarity grows each day, allowing you to immerse yourself ever more freely in the landscape.

Each ride ends with a sundowner at a special place in the wilderness, with drinks and snacks as the sky changes colour. Afterwards, the horses return to the lodge on their own — a quiet, moving image of freedom and trust. You enjoy a relaxed drive home beneath the stars.

Included

Duration: 7 nights
Price: €790 per person (plus accommodation)
Time in the saddle: approx. 13–14 hours in total

Highlights at a Glance

Seven nights that reveal just how vast the Kalahari really is.

Tailored to Your Wishes

Neither of the suggested packages quite what you are looking for? We will be happy to create a riding package tailored to your wishes, ability and available time.

An introductory morning ride at €45 per ride is always compulsory so that we can check that horse and rider are well matched. You can then choose between morning rides (€90 per ride, approx. 2 hrs) and afternoon sunset rides (€130 per ride, approx. 3 hrs including sundowners), all excluding accommodation. You can also add non-riding activities and experiences to your programme.

If you would like to ride more often than your package includes, you can of course add extra rides to your booked package on site:
• Morning ride: €90 (plus accommodation)
• Afternoon/sunset ride: €130 (plus accommodation)

For accompanying children up to 12, we offer led pony rides in the safe farmyard at €25 per person.
