Where research and sharing knowledge go hand in hand
Science comes to life at Kuzikus. Education is a central, integral part of our holistic vision for conservation: we bring theory and practice together to create a living conservation movement with real impact and hands-on experience. This work draws on over 30 years of experience in applied ecology and wildlife management, and on a research team led by internationally trained biologists – Edinburgh, Lausanne and Zurich.
What makes education at Kuzikus special is that it takes place directly in nature, through first-hand observation and active participation in research projects: “learning through experience”.
Educational talks, seminars and symposia provide further opportunities for multidisciplinary learning, ideal for groups with an interest in education or the natural sciences.
An awareness of nature that lasts a lifetime. A child who has followed a rhino’s tracks or understood how a single camel thorn tree supports an entire ecosystem carries that knowledge for life – as a future farmer, ranger, teacher or parent. That is why environmental awareness for Namibia’s next generation is no side project for us: it is an investment in the future. Today’s children will decide tomorrow how their country’s natural world is treated, shaping a liveable future for themselves and all of us. You can support this work directly.
You can contribute to science at Kuzikus without a research project of your own. Volunteers support ongoing projects such as rhino monitoring, vegetation mapping and wildlife observation, learning directly from biologists and Khwe-San trackers. You can volunteer for up to three months in exchange for board and lodging, with no programme fee.
Whether you sponsor a tree, directly support our research or fund environmental education for Namibian school groups, your donation makes a difference where it matters most. Please contact us if you would like to support a particular project.
