Giraffe count on a wildlife management excursion with biologists

For photographers who want to capture the Kalahari’s unique character in a few days: its vastness, wildlife and the special light of morning and evening.

Your Experience

This compact photography package is for guests who want to discover the Kalahari’s characteristic landscapes, animals and changing light through their camera in just a few days. It begins with a relaxed drive into the vast reserve. As the late-afternoon light grows warmer, you gain your first impressions of savannah, dunes and wildlife. A sundowner in nature rounds off your introduction.

On an excursion with a biologist, you learn about the Kalahari’s ecological relationships. Insights into animal behaviour, vegetation, soils and waterholes help you find subjects deliberately and understand natural situations photographically.

A further drive dedicated to photography is planned flexibly around the light, season and current sightings. Depending on conditions, the focus may be on open calcareous pans, red sand, camel thorn trees, bush savannah or selected waterholes, to photograph the Kalahari’s diverse wildlife in its natural habitats. There is time to try different viewpoints and compositions.

The programme combines focused photography time with a personal experience of nature. Small groups and flexible planning allow you to respond to interesting sightings, changing clouds and the especially photogenic morning and evening hours.

The programme can be adapted and extended on site to accommodate spontaneous wishes.

Duration: 3 nights
Price: 195.00 € (excluding accommodation)

The Kalahari in its best light – a week of nature and landscape photography

For photographers who want to spend a week exploring the Kalahari, its diverse wildlife and distinctive landscapes in depth. Personal guidance from a biologist deepens your understanding of ecological relationships while leaving ample time to photograph animals in their natural habitats and capture the special light of morning and evening.

Your Experience

Your photography week begins with a relaxed sunset drive. Settle into the vastness of the Kalahari, discover the landscape and its light, and discuss your photographic interests with your guide. A sundowner in the wilderness rounds off your first evening.

A guided excursion with a biologist combines understanding nature with photography. You learn how climate, soils, plants, wildlife and waterholes shape the Kalahari ecosystem. This knowledge helps you recognise subjects more thoughtfully, anticipate behaviour and tell the story of a landscape in pictures.

On four further days, you set out on photography trips lasting around three hours each. Depending on the light, season and current wildlife sightings, the drives take you to open calcareous pans, red dunes, stands of camel thorn trees, dense bush savannah or selected waterholes. There is plenty of time to try different perspectives, wait for the right moment and concentrate on individual subjects.

The excursions adapt flexibly to the best conditions: soft morning light, warm late-afternoon colours, dust, dramatic clouds or animals at a waterhole. The focus is on immersive nature experiences and authentic photographs, with no rush and in a small, personal group.

Included

The programme can be adapted and extended on site to accommodate spontaneous wishes.

Duration: 7 nights
Price: 420.00 € (excluding accommodation)
Guided photography programme: Approx. 18 hours
